MEP Awards: Voltas is contractor of the year 2010

Voltas won the coveted Middle East MEP Contractor of the Year at the MEP Awards 2010, held at the Westin in Dubai.

Together with Overall GCC Project of the Year and Project Manager of the Year, this was the third accolade received by Voltas. Executive VP and CEO Shaukat Ali Mir said: “This is the most coveted of the awards we have received tonight.

"It is an acknowledgment of the nature of the projects we do, which are extremely complex, for demanding and challenging customers. There is a huge amount of value engineering and engineering expertise involved, because a lot of our projects are design-and-build.

“There is a recognition here of the company’s ability to simultaneously manage multiple projects across the region, in a difficult period, and during which we are expanding as well. It is a recognition of the trust of our customers – that is very important. It is a tribute to our directors and our staff,” said Mir.

Voltas GM: business development MENA Ralph D’Souza said: “The size of the projects we undertake is remarkable in terms of their complexity and size, and across geographies. We have been progressively enhancing the scale of our service offering over the last ten years.”

“It is a fitting testament to the spirit and tenacity of the MEP sector that this was the closest-fought category of all. A single point separated the top two candidates,” said the judges. They praised the nominees for the depth and scale of their work, and their overall presence in the market.

The winner was cited for its “sheer scale and delivery power … It is a big player, and this is testified to by its ability to win big work.”
