The broadband penetration in India has increased to large extent and telecom companies are always in the lookout for new technologies to improve the broadband for its consumers. The increase in Internet speed has become a boon to Indians as most of them consume online content and with smartphones , featured phones the video content is also catching up with Indians at very fast pace.
ComScore, an online company which measures the number of online audiences said that about 30.2 million online users watched online videos .i.e., about 72 percent of the total Indian population. The popular video websites that Indian viewers visited were Network18 websites, that include IBNLive.com, India's top financial portal Moneycontrol.com and its sister websites. The list also included the popular website YouTube.
The report also found that each viewer would spend about 109 minutes on an average on Network18 as compared to the Google's websites, including YouTube. The other websites which caught eyeballs were Facebook, Metacafe, Yahoo, Dailymotion and VEVO.
