Smartphones are blocking the world's mobile networks consuming five times more data than normal mobiles. Though the mobile operators are trying to improve the performance of networks and they have invested billions on it, still there is blockage in the network availability in New York, London and San Francisco. The head of the International Telecommunications Union warned that the government should take action quickly to support wireless broadband growth.
The high tech mobile like Apple's iPhone also consumes five times more data than usual handsets and that also causes congestion on mobile network, thereby straining the mobile broadband capacity.
According to a Geneva based United Nations agency, ITU, by 2015 the number of smartphones are expected to increase to two billion. They have also figured out that 98 countries have specific broadband plans in place and ITU estimates that in the first quarter of 2011 there will be 1 Billion mobile broadband subscriptions worldwide.
U.S President Barack Obama has announced a plan to expand high speed wireless Internet to 98 percent of Americans and free up more wireless spectrum space over the next decade to cope with growing demand from users of smartphones and gadgets such as the iPad.
